Action in Mission

Serving Christ in Town and Country

Although titled ‘The Baptist Caravan Fellowship’, reflecting its roots, the BCF now considers itself an ecumenical organisation in it’s spread of membership and amongst the church families who invite our assistance.

It all started back in 1968 when Dennis and Vivien Single found that it was sometimes difficult to meet up with like-minded families when they caravanned. They placed an invitation in the ‘Baptist Times’ newspaper for Christian families to meet and as a result eight families gathered for that first rally in Sandy, Beds.

However it wasn’t long before those early pioneers in the BCF found that many of the country churches and chapels that they visited whilst caravanning in fact needed their help. So as membership numbers grew and they found in their ranks preachers and folk able to lead worship, they set about offering ministry where needed. As the membership grew, together with the popularity of caravanning, the work grew to the extent that it became necessary to split the rally organising into regional ‘areas’ and the present 80 or so family units between them will support some 15 or so rallies across England and Wales.

Whilst seeking to minister to churches primarily, the BCF does aim to have at least 3 rallies a season just for it’s own fellowship and recreation.
